Band of the day: Ageless Oblivion
By Tom on Aug 30, 2011 | In Features
Ageless Oblivion: Riffs? Check. Horror? Check. Technicality? Check. So heavy you'll shit out your own eyeballs? Check.
Take Nile's technical riffage and brutality, Akercocke's progressive approach to songwriting (not to mention utter evil sound) and throw in some Cult Of Luna/Neurosis-esque vast, crushing heaviness, and you get Ageless Oblivion. And they're really fucking good. There aren't many bands capable of sounding this heavy, this sinister or this face-destroying, let alone doing all three at the same time and managing to do it with memorable songs. Their debut 'Temples Of Transcendent Evolution' came out early this year, and is still one of the best releases of 2011.
But don't just take our word for it. Have your skin separated from your head by 'Unhallowed Domain' instead. We'll book you in for reconstructive surgery while you do.
