Prog-death act Obscura are also enjoying stateside success too. Their latest offering 'Omnivium', sold around 2,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The album reached position No. 11 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the top-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
The 'Omnivium' artwork was designed and co-ordinated by Orion Landau (Origin, Dying Fetus, Zeke, Disfear)
The album was recorded at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer V. Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress) and is inspired by Friedrich Schelling's 'On Nature's Connection to the Spirit World.'
Obscura drummer Hannes Grossman comments on the bands latest release:
"The recording process was intense and time-consuming, but it brought us many steps forward as musicians both individually and collectively."
"The songs are still catchy, but there are more epic parts involved, as well as faster and more melodic songs. The extremes of the band's sound extend on all sides, so to say. Expect some things which have never been done before like this in death metal!"
Obscura will embark on a four-week European tour with Hate Eternal and Beneath The Massacre commencing late April.
